Biome & Research Partners deliver scientific paper at 2025 Wind Turbine Noise Conference

The scientific measurements behind the performance of Biome’s FeatherEdge® serration technology were shared with an international audience of wind turbine experts at the 2025 Wind Turbine Noise Conference in Copenhagen in June 2025.

Biome CEO / CTO and Founder Ryan Church, alongside co-authors Matthew Cand of Hoare Lea LLP (UK) and Duncan Halstead of Aercoustics Engineering Ltd (Canada) presented the paper “Impact of a Novel Flexible Serrated Trailing Edge in the Reduction of Far-Field Wind Turbine Noise”.

Understanding the impact of novel technologies that have the potential to reduce the impact of noise at far-field locations is of interest for the entire wind industry.

In the paper, researchers investigated the impact of a novel flexible serrated trailing edge device on the reduction of far-field broadband noise through reductions in sound energy in the low- to mid- frequency spectrum (< 1000 Hz) on two contrasting sizes of MW-class wind turbines.
